About Benetech
Benetech believes that equitable access to education is a human right. Our technology and services break down systemic barriers and empower all learners regardless of ability. Around the world, we partner with local communities to expand inclusive and equitable education opportunities. To date, we have delivered more than 20 million accessible books helping over 1.5 million students, jobseekers, and adults to read, learn, and pursue their dreams.
The Opportunity
Bookshare gives students with print disabilities free access to books they couldn't otherwise read. But access isn't the same as impact — a school with a Bookshare account and a school where every eligible student is actually using it are two very different things. That gap is where this role lives.
As Senior Manager, Partner Relations, you'll own a higher education market and carry two connected mandates: getting institutions to actually use what they already have access to, and managing the full partner relationship, including our paid Bookshare Plus service, from onboarding through renewal.
This isn't a role where you pick one lane. You'll build the account plan and also lead the training session. You'll negotiate the renewal and also resolve the support escalation. You'll set segment strategy and also step in personally when a program needs a hands-on owner. If you like variety and hate handing off the parts of the job that don't fit neatly into a job description, this is built for you.
What you'll actually do
· Drive engagement and retention. Own the numbers for your segment — activation, utilization, retention, and renewal — and build the outreach and enablement strategies that turn dormant accounts into active ones.
· Own the relationship, end to end. Be the go-to person for your partners: business reviews, escalations, renewal conversations, and the quiet relationship-building that keeps things running smoothly through staff turnover and budget cycles.
· Shape segment strategy. Bring market intelligence, competitive insight, and data back into how Benetech prioritizes, prices, and positions its offerings.
· Run real programs. Own a portfolio of segment-specific initiatives — whether that means designing and delivering them yourself or directing the team that does.
· Handle the administrative reality of institutional partnerships. Data privacy agreements, vendor documentation, compliance paperwork — you'll own the process and make it repeatable, not a fire drill every time.
· Lead where you have a team, and lead anyway where you don't. Some Senior Managers here have direct reports; some don't. Either way, you're expected to build capability, mentor, and raise the bar for how the work gets done.
What you bring
· Bachelor degree in education, business, communication or a related field
· 10+ years of experience in relationship management, program management, outreach, or training — including real, multi-year ownership of institutional relationships with retention or growth results
· Experience running cohorts, trainings, or seminars for professional audiences
· The presence to hold your own with senior institutional stakeholders, and the instincts to know when a partner issue needs to be escalated versus handled
· A track record of juggling genuinely different kinds of work — strategic and hands-on, relationship-driven and operational — without letting one crowd out the other
· Excellent written and verbal communication, and the organizational discipline to manage competing deadlines
· A real passion for expanding equitable access to education
· Ability to travel up to 20% as needed, including partner sites visits, conferences representation, cohort convenings and other required meetings
Nice to have: Master’s degree in education, business administration, disability studies, or a related field; experience in customer success, account management, or partner-facing roles in EdTech or academic markets; familiarity with institutional procurement and budget cycles; knowledge of assistive technology and accessibility standards (ADA Title II, Section 508, WCAG); background in data privacy or vendor compliance in an education setting; and any experience mentoring or informally leading other program or account staff.
